George is the founder of Swim Islington setting up a ‘learn to swim school’ in the Spring of 1993. Through his passion for swimming teaching and coaching, the Swim Islington programme has grown since its inception and now offers swimming lessons and swimming coaching to many hundreds of children per week in the Sevenoaks and Tunbridge Wells areas. George took an interest in swimming from an early age and swam competitively for Woolwich Swimming Club, Beckenham Swimming Club, Millfield School and the British Colleges Swimming Team. His qualifications include the NRASTC lifesaving qualification, Safeguarding & Protecting Children certificate, ASA (Amateur Swimming Association) level 1 & level 2 Swimming Teaching Certificates and the ASA Club Coaches Certificate. George is also a member of the IOS (Institute of Swimming ) the BSCA (British Swimming Coaches Association) and attends their annual conference and other coach training workshops and seminars throughout the year.
George’ core philosophy is to ‘create an environment where success is inevitable’. This is being achieved in the swim school and swim club through a structured programme where class/group sizes are small and where qualified, skilled and enthusiastic teachers and coaches work on the ‘Aqua’ team. George has many coaching values that include Leadership, Commitment & Inspiring swimmers to fulfil their ambition to succeed.
There have been many coaching successes including county, regional and national individual and team medallists. George has also coached a swimmer to represent the Great Britain junior team as well as a swimmer to represent GB in the junior modern pentathlon team.
George is married with two daughtersand when not in swimming pools likes to spend time in the fresh air on the golf course!
